General Questions

Why is BileMo free?

Why unlocking the service provider?

When you purchase a mobile within an offer from an operator (suscription, kit, pack...),
you pay the phone a a very low price. But this phone does not belong to you before
several months (often 6 months). Only after this period do you totally
own the phone, but often the phone has been locked so as to accept SIM cards
solely from that operator. Unlocking the operator means to get rid of this
restriction, thus allowing you to use any SIM card in the world on
your mobile!

Is unlocking the operator legal?

Yes it is, provided that the phone is totally yours. Under no circonstance
are we trying to modify the phone's Software, nor to change its characteristics
to make it different and not recognisable (see stolen phones).

Why unlock mobile phones by code?

Usually, phones were unlocked directly by datacable (not without risk).
But since recently, for some phones (not for all sadly enough), it is possible
to calculate unlocking codes and to key them in. The method is simple, very fast
and has no risk of damaging the software of your phone.

What are the risks for my phone when unlocking by code?

If unlocked by code, you phone is pretty safe. Using a function planned
in its design (to enter codes) cannot damage the Software. Nonetheless,
here some possible negative consequences:
. if you enter several times erroneous codes, you won't be allowed to unlock by code again
. when unlocking, you'll be often asked to key in the security/user codes,
if you don't remember the security code, you'll have to use a cable (for Nokia phones) or some
other 'tips' to reset this code.
. When unlocked, some phones are completely re-initialised, and thus erase your personal set-ups.
But as you can see, you'll never end up with a "dead" phone after the operation!
My phone is locked, will I be able to unlock it on Bilemo?

Technical questions

What is IMEI?

The IMEI number is a number made of 15 digits, which identifies your material
(phone, SIM card, etc.). Normally, there shouldn't be two identical IMEI numbers.
You'll be able to obtain the IMEI of your phone by typing *#06#. As far as your
SIM card is concerned, the IMEI number should be written on it. Unlocking the
operator usually requests the phone's IMEI number to calculate your unlocking codes.
What is the operator code?

Is the unlocking by code 100% effective?

It depends on the models and brands. The reliability factor is indicated
for each case in the corresponding pages (see Nokia, Lg, etc. pages). For a
100% success in unlocking your phone, you'll need:
1. 100% reliable codes
2. A perfectly well functioning phone
3. A phone that has not undergone several unlocking operations.
4. To succeed in handling the codes you received!

In any case, codes will be reliable and correct if you have provided reliable
and correct information. You are sole responsible of the information you provide,
and there is no way we can check this information for you.
What is the delay for me to receive my codes?

Codes are calculated every 3 minutes, 24/7. When you make a request, a small delay
for the calculator to start is 3 minutes at the most (1 second at the minimum). You
receive your codes in an average of 90 seconds. Once these codes are calculated, the
answer to your request is sent immediately. Since we use our own email servers, the
sending is immediate and direct from our servers to the servers of your provider. But
the timing of the arrival of the message in your mailbox may vary depending on your
provider. Observations measured delays from 1 to 3 minutes for the most serious operators,
to 30 to 45 minutes as an average for the others. Please note that a 4 hour delay is not
uncommon, it was even the common rule some years ago. It can also happen that the server
of your provider looses undistributed emails or even that is is not running when we contact it.
It is not that rare and does happens during maintenance operations, when rebooting, etc.
In this case, you will be able to use the "receive again" function in the page called
'Follow your requests',
and you will receive your codes again.
Is there a risk to receive viruses with the codes?

The systems and the writing of emails we normally use should not permit
a virus to infect any document. Emails replying to codes requests are always
written as text (not html, no mime), some other might be sent in html (reminders,
information, confirmations). No file other than images (.gif) is attached to any
of the messages sent on the site. Nonetheless, your mail can be infected when arriving
in your mailbox, or during its distributionm, or even while you're reading it.
Every email (supposedely from us) with characteristics differing from the above mentionned
should be suspect. We advise you to take all possible precautions to face infections,
for instance by using anti-virus programs.
Code problems and others

I didn't receive the codes, I lost my codes

Even with your validated address, there is a possibility that you don't
receive your codes. Causes are numberous and diverse, for instance: message
was refused because your mailbox is full, the server of your provider does
not reply at the moment of the transmission (maintenance, reboot...), we even had
a case where a zealous server refused our message thinking it could be a virus!
The BileMo website offers you a dedicated page where you can follow your request
in real time, and if necessary where you can receive your codes again.

I forgot my security code!

The security code is a code that can be customised by the owner of the phone. Its aim is to prevent others from using it, no matter the SIM card or the operator network. Often, the owners themselves "trap themselves" by modifying the default code and forgetting the new one. For most of the phones, and as indicated by its name ("security code"), no one can help you and interfear if you forgot it. Most of the times you'll need to operate directly on the phone with dedicated materials (unlock cables and a software), ask a GSM shop still the fastest and the cheapest solution. Nonetheless, you can find some tips for some rares phone types in the "secret codes" section. Last easy solution (but a little bit long), you can try to find the lost code yourself by key in all numbers with 4 digits (for example), there is no tries limit.
Classically, default fatory values of these codes are a series of zeros '0000' or a numerical series '1234' (or '4321') with 4,5,6 depending on the cases (Nokia: 1234(5), 0000(0), Sagem:0000, etc.).
My phones asks for my pin number, my puk code, any code?

The PIN number is related to you SIM card number, it is independent from the phone and remains the same if you use your SIM card with another phone or any other material. After several failures to enter you PIN number, the SIM card "closes" a first level of security and asks for your PUK code. This codes is the code that has been given to you on your contract when you bought your SIM card. If you can't find it, only the customer service of your SIM card will be able to communicate it to you again.
You just entered your PIN number and the phone asks you to enter another code?!
It can be either asking for the security code or for the operator unlocking code - if you just put a SIM card in a phone which originately did not accept this type of SIM card.
